The Ethiopia-Djibouti gas pipeline starts at the Calub gas field in the Ogaden Basin, Ethiopia, and extends to its terminus in Djibouti. Covering a total length of 749.4 km, the pipeline includes 663.26 km in Ethiopia and 86.14 km in Djibouti. It is engineered to transport 16.51 billion cubic meters of gas annually. The project encompasses several critical phases and milestones.

The preliminary design of the pipeline has been completed, establishing the foundational technical and logistical framework. The next significant step is the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) tendering process, which is currently in progress. This phase involves inviting and evaluating bids from qualified contractors to handle the detailed design, construction, and commissioning of the pipeline.

In addition to the main pipeline, the project includes the construction of multiple pumping and compressor stations to ensure optimal flow and pressure management. State-of-the-art monitoring and control systems will be installed to maintain operational safety and efficiency. Environmental and social impact assessments have also been conducted to minimize the project’s footprint and ensure compliance with international standards.

The Ethiopia-Djibouti gas pipeline is a pivotal infrastructure project, anticipated to enhance energy security and foster economic growth in the region by providing a reliable supply of natural gas for industrial, commercial, and domestic use.
