On the afternoon of September 4, Zhu Gongshan, Chairman of GCL Group, who was in Beijing for 2018 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, attended China-Africa CEO Senior Dialogue and delivered a keynote speech. He said, it is the duty of Chinese and African business circles and entrepreneurs to implement the new policies, ideas, actions and initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping at the 2018 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and GCL will join hands with China Poly Group to build East Africa Oil-gas Economic Belt and construct oil and gas pipeline to form East Africa Energy Corridor with “Ethiopia-Djibouti Oil and Gas Project” (the “GCL-Poly Ethiopia – Djibouti Oil and Gas Project”).

As a comprehensive energy operation service provider with distinctive industrial features and outstanding development advantages, GCL has been ranked first in the new energy industry of China’s top 500 enterprises for many years. Over the past 5 years since the “Belt and Road” initiative was proposed, GCL has made positive progress in various investment cooperation in Africa and proactively participated in China-Africa industrialization, infrastructure construction and green development, etc., which effectively promoted the social development, economic transformation and improvement of people’s livelihood in Africa. Mr. Zhu said that the connectivity of road network, power grid, pipe network and information network is the most important part of infrastructure construction in Africa. Besides, Addis Ababa Djibouti Railway opened the transportation trunk between Ethiopia and Djibouti, with the supporting UHV transmission line project forming the overhead power channel connecting both countries. The GCL-Poly Ethiopia-Djibouti Oil and Gas Project will build cross-border oil and gas pipeline to complete the important part of infrastructure construction in East Africa.
